Sheep Racing Preparation

Well its all systems go as preparations get into full swing for the 3rd Annual Leghowney Sheep races and this year is going to be even bigger and better than previous. Along with the usual array of fun things to do ie.Bouncy Castles, Ball trailer, Gladiators, Nearest the Pin, Guess the Weight of the Sheep, Paintball, Face Painting, Kids Races etc we will have an All Ireland Champion Sheep Shearer demonstrating his skills alongside the traditional manual sheep shearing, Wool spinning, Creel making and not forgetting our Bric a Brac stand and THE MAIN EVENT - 6 Sheep races which are guaranteed to crack a smile on even the sourest puss! This year we also have a novelty race to wrap up the day. This "Donegal Hardware Handicap" will definitely be a race to hang around for.....but you have to be there to get the full details!! All day long we will have our hardworking barbecue crew on the griddles and Leghowney Country Market bakers will be supplying the freshly baked scones for afternoon teas...... and yes the ice cream will be there too. Believe it or not, this is just a section of what is available on the day, so put the date in your phones, diaries, calenders or heads!! SATURDAY 31ST JULY AT 1PM. FIRST RACE OFF AT 1.30 SHARP. Get there in good time to visit the Bookies tent before the off. A booklet containing a full list of Sheep and owners will be given to everyone on entry so there is no excuse to pick the form.
A great family day for all so come along and enjoy..

Welcome home to Kathleen Houston and family to "the bridge". Summer is really here now that Kathleen has made the annual pilgrimage. Have a great holiday.
